“Don't ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility." -Michelle Obama
Melissa joined the staff at Millstream Farm in 2023. In this role, Melissa has taught the students mathematics, humanities, and as of 2025, will guide the adolescents with their student-run business!
As she began her Montessori journey in the Public Montessori sector, Melissa has had many opportunities to lead passionate teams of teachers, gardeners, and parent volunteers through environmentally-minded and Montessori-forward projects. She formed a group of passionate Montessori advocates in Hartford called "Montessori in Hartford" and led a group of school gardeners working in the urban gardens of Hartford Public Schools. Buoyed by her love of food, gardening, and social justice, Melissa led whole-school environmental initiatives in public Montessori for many years.
As her own two children began public Montessori in Hartford, CT in 2013, Melissa began her own Montessori education. She received her AMI Elementary Diploma in 2019, her Master's of Education in 2020 from the University of Hartford, and her AMI Adolescent Certificate in 2025.
Prior to becoming a mom and Montessori educator, Melissa received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University. She worked in the private technology sector, focusing on project management while living in Boston, MA. During this time, started to develop a love of photography, and eventually started a small photography business!
Melissa is now a happy mom of 2 teenagers, one dog, and enjoys running and reading. She sits on the Vestry of her historic church in Old Wethersfield and is the President of the Wethersfield High School Running Booster Club.
