Leslie Wetmore

Primary Two Teacher

"We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself; this is the art of those who aspire to serve the spirit. It is the teacher's joy to welcome the manifestations of the spirit answering her faith. Here is the child as he should be: the worker who never tires, the calm child who seeks the maximum of effort, who tries to help the weak while knowing how to respect the independence of others, in reality, the true child."
- Education for Peace, p.69

Leslie joined the MSGH community in 2009, two months after she graduated college, and began working in our Main Office as an administrative coordinator. Quickly identified as a natural with children, she began substituting and returned to MSGH the following year as an Assistant in the Primary One classroom. In 2013, she began training at the Montessori Institute of San Diego and in 2015, received her AMI Primary diploma. Leslie currently co-teaches in our All-Day Primary Classroom.

Prior to joining MSGH, Leslie focused on her academic studies and held positions in research relating to child speech acquisition. She holds in BA in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and has an extensive background in language study. She has studied Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese, and continues to be interested in all languages.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, listening to music, and attending the theater.
