Alex Pape
Adolescent Guide
"Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable." - Mary Oliver
Alex Pape joined our community in the fall of 2019 as an adolescent guide. At Millstream, Alex shares her passion of literature, writing, woodworking, cooking, crafting, gardening, and farming with the students and our community.
Prior to MSGH Alex lived in the UK for five years. During this time, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and History with honors from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Additionally, she completed a Master's in Creative Writing with honors from the University of Manchester where she studied under CBE Jeanette Winterson and FRSL Kamila Shamsie.
Alex knew she wanted to teach literature to adolescents from a young age and has spent many years teaching at summer programs and tutoring. Additionally, she completed an internship as a member of the Summer English Faculty at The Taft School and worked at Sandringham School in St Albans UK as a teaching assistant and member of the Design and Technology department.
In her free time, Alex writes poetry and has been an award recipient of the National Scholastic Writing Competition and Connecticut Young Writers Competition. Her poetry and prose have been published in literary magazines, including the Manchester Anthology. She also loves to hike with her dog Charlie and get her hands dirty in the garden!
